Let’s talk about Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toilette & Eau de Cologne — what makes them different, and at different price points?
Eau De Parfum (EDP)
Eau de parfums have the (almost) highest concentration of fragrance oil, between 15-20%. (Pure fragrance oil holds the highest concentration available going up to 30% of fragrance oil) EDP has an average longevity 6-7 hours on skin and 10-12 on clothes.
Eau De Toilette (EDT)
Eau de toilettes (EDT) is more popular and readily available in stores. With a concentration between 5-15% it is usually more wallet-friendly as compared to EDPs. With the lower concentration of oil, the longevity is lower.
Fun Fact: Did you know that the term eau de toilette came from the French term “faire sa toilette” which means getting ready?
Eau de Cologne (EDC)
With a significantly lower fragrance concentration (2-6%), Eau de Colognes are high in alcohol and are considerably cheaper than EDPs & EDTs. The longevity is for an average of 1-2 hours. You can expect EDCs to be available in bigger bottles due to its short longevity and more is needed to be used.
